Many users have reported running into an issue while running the launcher that says "Patch Failed" and "Something went wrong, restored the previous version! Try to reopen the launcher!"
Screenshot of error:
If you encounter this issue:
- Try re-loading the launcher and let it run for some time
- If the issue repeats, try once more up to 3 times. Most people see that it completes after the 3rd attempt. If you continue to see this issue, proceed to the more advanced troubleshooting below
Steps to try if your launcher keepings failing
-
check that you have enough disk space
-
close all instances of the game, make sure you don't have the game running in the background
-
uninstall the game through the control panel
-
make sure all of the LOA game files are deleted if there is any remaining in the following paths:
- C:\Program Files\Legends of Aria Launcher
- C:\Users\<your username here>\AppData\LocalLow\Citadel Studios Inc_
- if you installed the game to any other folder, please remove those folders too
- if you have an issue removing a file because it is in-use, skip to next step (restart) and try again
-
restart computer fully to make sure nothing is stuck in memory
-
open the game installer again, please do not click Next yet, instead:
- choose to install it to a different path instead of the default c:\Program Files\Legends of Aria Launcher
- a different path like c:\LOA would be fine
-
after installing to new path, try running the Legends of Aria launcher again, and allow it to update
If the launcher is still not working:
- go to the LOA Download page and click the link that says "Problems running the patcher? Click here" to download the latest client in a compressed folder (ZIP)
- extract the downloaded contents to a folder somewhere
- run the game client LegendsOfAria.exe directly from there, which bypasses the launcher allowing you to immediately open and play the game
